Google Analytics is Google's web and app analytics platform. This integration lets your AI workflows read that data — properties, audience and engagement metrics, and traffic sources — for the properties your connected Google account can access.

ga4_ai-traffic

Traffic referred by AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot, etc). view "sources" (default; which AIs send traffic), "pages" (which content they cite), "pages_by_source" (each landing page broken down by which AI sent it), or "trend" (weekly). Detection unions GA4's native AI Assistant channel with a curated source list. AI visits without a referrer land in Direct, so treat the numbers as a floor. Run ga4_list-properties first if you don't have a property ID.

Tool Input

propertyIdstringrequired— Numeric GA4 property ID (e.g. "123456789"). Get it from ga4_list-properties if you don't have one.(pattern: ^\d{1,15}$)
startDatestring— Window start. "90daysAgo" or YYYY-MM-DD. AI traffic is thin, so the default window is wide. Defaults to "90daysAgo" when omitted.(min length: 1, max length: 30)
endDatestring— Window end. "today" or YYYY-MM-DD. Defaults to "today" when omitted.(min length: 1, max length: 30)
viewstring— Which view to return. "sources" (default; which AIs send traffic), "pages" (which content they cite), "pages_by_source" (each landing page broken down by which AI sent it), or "trend" (weekly). Determines which optional row fields are populated.(enum: "sources", "pages", "pages_by_source", "trend")
limitinteger— Max rows to return (up to 100). Defaults to 25 when omitted.(>= 1, <= 100)

Tool Output

propertyIdstringrequired— The GA4 property this data came from, as a bare numeric id.
startDatestringrequired— Window start, echoing the request ("YYYY-MM-DD" or a relative form).
endDatestringrequired— Window end, echoing the request.
viewstringrequired— Which view was requested. Determines which optional row fields are populated. Known values: "sources", "pages", "pages_by_source", "trend".
rowsarrayrequired— Rows for the requested view: detected/attributed AI assistant traffic, not necessarily every AI visit — a referrerless AI visit lands in Direct instead, and industry estimates put AI-referrer detection coverage at roughly 20-40% of actual AI-driven visits, so treat empty or low counts as a floor, not proof AI tools aren't citing the site.
[]object
sourcestring— AI source host. Present on the "sources" and "pages_by_source" views.
pagestring— Landing page. Present on the "pages" and "pages_by_source" views.
weekstring— ISO week, e.g. "2026-W07". Present on the "trend" view only.
sessionsnumberrequired— Sessions.
usersnumberrequired— Active users. Not additive across rows: GA4 de-duplicates them.
engagementRatenumber— Engaged sessions as a percentage (0-100). Present on the "sources" and "pages" views.
keyEventsnumber— Key events (GA4 conversions). Absent on the "trend" view.
topKeyEventsarray— Top contributing key events for this row, biggest first. Empty when there are none.
1 field
[]object
2 fields
eventNamestringrequired— GA4 event name.
countnumberrequired— Key events of this name attributed to the row.

Google Analytics Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Ai Traffic tool do?

This page documents the Ai Traffic tool (ga4_ai-traffic). It is one of the Google Analytics AI tools, invoked through your firm's Weave MCP connection and available to members whose access level permits it.

Why is ai-traffic slow?

The partner reports second-by-second per row, so a full-window report can run close to two minutes; this tool never retries internally on failure.

Why does it default to a 90-day window instead of 30?

AI-referred traffic is thin relative to overall traffic, so the default window is wider to surface a meaningful sample.

Are these numbers a complete count?

No, treat them as a floor. Detection unions GA4's native AI Assistant channel with a curated source list, but AI visits without a referrer land in Direct instead, so the true AI-driven traffic is undercounted.

What is the Google Analytics integration?

The Google Analytics integration connects your firm's Google Analytics account to Weave. Google Analytics is Google's web and app analytics platform. This integration lets your AI workflows read that data, properties, audience and engagement metrics, and traffic sources, for the properties your connected Google account can access. It groups 11 tools into 5 categories, exposed through your firm's Weave MCP connection and filtered per member by access level.

How does my firm connect Google Analytics to Weave?

An admin authorizes a Google account with access to your GA4 properties once, via Google's OAuth consent flow in the Weave console. Every firm member then works through that single connection, there is no per-member Google sign-in.

Can these tools change anything in Google Analytics?

No. Every ga4 tool is read-only reporting, none of them can edit a property, change tracking configuration, or modify GA4 data.

Do I need to specify a property every time?

Yes, run ga4_list-properties first to get the numeric propertyId for the account/property you want; every other ga4 tool requires it.

What does organicOnly mean on these reports?

Most tools default to organicOnly: true, scoping the report to organic search traffic; widen the scope with organicOnly: false, or narrow it further with a channelFilter where the tool supports one.
